Happy Diwali!
In India Diwali is one of the biggest holidays of the year! Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is the Hindu New Year. To celebrate, we adorn our homes with flowers. The lotus blossom is drawn in our doorways and filled with colored sand as a sign of welcome. We also light clay lamps called deepa outside of our homes.

Diwali allows us to spend time with our families. We gather to eat delicious food, exchange sweets, and enjoy each other’s company. Also, people often light fireworks to celebrate the occasion.
